Just like last year, the end of school also signals the beginning of another crazy family vacation for us. For those of you who thought we were off our rockers for taking three kids (ages 8, 6 & 1) and 74 year-old Grandma Kit from coast to coast in a 17-year old RV, just wait 'til you hear this year's plan. That's right; the whole gang's back for another zany adventure. Okay, not quite the whole gang - We tried to talk Grandma Kit into joining us again, but she's decided to stay close to home this summer. There was just something about almost dying after driving through half the states in the USA that has her spooked. I tried to convince her that the doctor assures us that her condition had nothing at all to do with being cooped up in a motor home for more than a month, but she can be a stubborn old lady. Oh well, I'm sure by next summer she'll be itching for another adventure.
Anyhoo, Alex ( now age 9), Zac (7) and Katie (2, and very good at it) are thrilled about the family trip of a lifetime as we are preparing to visit France and Switzerland (and who knows? maybe we'll squeeze in another country or two). That's right, the family European vacation (Is anyone other than me picturing Chevy Chase here?) begins on Tuesday, June 10 so since school gets out today, we'll start getting ready asap. Becky and I are also looking forward to the trip except for the part about being locked up in airplanes and airports for 20+ hours each way with a two-year old. Well, of course, there's lot more to the story than just, hey, we decided to go to Europe, but I'll save more of the background for the next posting.
By the way, for anyone who followed last year's adventure but hasn't been in touch much since then, Kit is doing great nearly a year after her big scare, but as I said she is a little gun shy about traveling half-way around the world. For anyone who missed that spirited tale, you can check out last year's blog at http://beckyandpete.blogspot.com. More to follow...

I've been checking your old blog repeatedly for updates on your new adventure and was about to just assume that you didn't have time (or internet connection) in Europe to blog about your trip. FINALLY today it hit me! "They started another website!" So I checked your profile and sure enough, here you are! Boy I have a lot of reading and catching up to do!! Eh - I'm back at work so I can kill a day at the computer reading about all your fun! =)
